In Scripture, I found the word, forgiveness, used fifteen times. I found forgiven used sixty-eight times and forgive
one hundred twenty-one times.
Our Profession of Faith declares, “"I believe in the forgiveness of sins."
In our Catholic faith, forgiveness is a core teaching. It is what Jesus taught in Matthew 26:28 when He said, “for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.”
As Catholics, we are blessed in that we are offered the Sacrament of Reconciliation where we may ask for and receive forgiveness. We pray for forgiveness for our own transgressions, for others’ sins and we ask for the Grace to have a merciful heart that we may forgive those who have hurt us. It is through God’s forgiveness, not our worthiness, that the veil has been lifted and we are offered an eternity in Heaven.
This rosary is a prayer for forgiveness for ourselves, others and the souls of those who have gone before us. With this Rosary, we ask Mary to take our sins to her Son and ask that He may forgive us.
Most symbolic of forgiveness is the cross which is represented, in this rosary, by the Jerusalem olivewood crucifix and center. Wood is repeated as it spaces the stone Aves. Because its texture is visually wood-like, we have chosen burnt brown agate as the Paters. The carved wood center frames a Miraculous Medal and the crucifix has a Saint Benedict medal from front to back.
This limited edition rosary measures 23”.

Psalm 51: 1-12
Give ear to my words, O Lord;
give heed to my sighing.
Listen to the sound of my cry,
my King and my God for to you I pray.
O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice;
in the morning I plead my case to you, and watch.
For you are not a God who delights in wickedness;
evil will not sojourn with you.
The boastful will not stand before your eyes;
you hate all evildoers.
You destroy those who speak lies;
the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful.
But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love,
will enter your house,
I will bow down toward your holy temple
in awe of you.
Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness
because of my enemies;
make your way straight before me.
For there is no truth in their mouths;
their hearts are destruction;
their throats are open graves;
they flatter with their tongues.
Make them bear their guilt, O God;
let them fall by their own counsels;
because of their many transgressions cast them out,
for they have rebelled against you.
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
so that those who love your name may exult in you.
For you bless the righteous, O Lord;
you cover them with favor as with a shield.

He who knows how to forgive prepares for himself many graces from God. As often as I look upon the cross, so often will I forgive with all my heart.

“If a man finds it very hard to forgive injuries, let him look at a Crucifix, and think that Christ shed all His Blood for him, and not only forgave His enemies, but even prayed His Heavenly Father to forgive them also. Let him remember that when he says the Pater Noster, every day, instead of asking pardon for his sins, he is calling down vengeance on himself.”
~ Saint Philip Neri ~
Matthew 6: 12
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
Colossians 1: 13-14
He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Saint Augustine’s Pray for His Mother’s Soul
I then, O my Praise and my Life, Thou God of my heart, putting aside for a little her good deeds, for which I joyfully give thanks to Thee, do now beseech Thee for the sins of my mother. Hearken unto me, through that Medicine Of our wounds who hung upon the tree, and who, sitting at Thy right hand, "maketh intercession for us." I know that she acted mercifully, and from the heart forgave her debtors their debts; do Thou also forgive her debts, whatever she contracted during so many years since the water of salvation. Forgive her, O Lord, forgive her, I beseech Thee; "enter not into judgment" with her. Let Thy mercy be exalted above Thy justice, because Thy words are true, and Thou hast promised mercy unto "the merciful;" which Thou gavest them to be who wilt "have mercy" on whom Thou wilt "have mercy," and wilt "have compassion" on whom Thou hast had compassion.
