Late Have I Loved You
In this most beautiful writing, Saint Augustine expresses the depth of his love for God as a confession for not having come to Him sooner. Many have come to God later, and realizing the joy of belonging to Him, regret the time they lived without it. There is no time with God and I believe He rejoices at our arriving, no matter how late.
Late have I loved you, O Beauty ever ancient, ever new, late have I loved you! You were within me, but I was outside, and it was there that I searched for you. In my unloveliness I plunged into the lovely things which you created. You were with me, but I was not with you. Created things kept me from you; yet if they had not been in you they would have not been at all. You called, you shouted, and you broke through my deafness. You flashed, you shone, and you dispelled my blindness. You breathed your fragrance on me; I drew in breath and now I pant for you. I have tasted you, now I hunger and thirst for more. This rosary was created as a prayer of gratitude for those who, after years of not accepting Him, have found their place with God.
Although visually heavy, this is a joyous rosary. Elements are symbolic of timing and the contrast of one’s life before and after union with God. Gray is a color associated with maturity so we have chosen gray limestone to represent the spiritual “coming of age.” Paters are poppy jasper. Their great contrast in color, symbolizes the contrast in the lives of those who late have come to love Him. Carnelian flanks the jasper and earthy glass separates the gray, reminiscent of the earth and the fact that He walked among us so that we could come to Him, be it earlier or later. We’ve chosen a Divine Face crucifix and Holy Spirit center to complete this rosary. Both are bronze and reminding us that the Holy Spirit, by His grace, called us to this love.
This limited edition rosary is large, measuring 28 ¼”.
